The Presence of Periodontal Disease
When should you see our team to undergo a diagnosis with digital x-rays? For some, their general dentist will refer them to our office at the first indicators of gingivitis and/or periodontal disease. But you can make arrangements yourself when you experience changes to your gum tissues. Digital X-Rays
With digital x-rays we don’t want you to bite down on uncomfortable bitewings and hold this bite. Instead, you will place your chin in a special rest and a machine will encircle your heads to obtain detailed and panoramic views of your smile, so we can analyze your smile as a whole in greater detail. Our team will be able to peer beneath the gums to assess any damage to attachment tissues and undergoing bone structure, so we can understand if you have gum disease, or periodontitis, and create a personalized treatment plan to keep your smile intact.
The images are sent immediately to chairside monitors, so we can walk you through the diagnosis. You don’t have to wait for a lengthy development time using harsh chemicals. We can easily transmit these images to your general dentist or another specialist as needed. The system also uses 90% less radiation!
Starting Treatment
If we catch the issue early, we may only need to conduct a deep cleaning to remove harmful buildup from the teeth and roots, which could take one visit to as many as two to four.
